Week In Review

Today marks my last day as a full-time resident of the greatest borough: Brooklyn. I'm ending the day with a bang by partying as hard as I can and dancing til the sun comes up, and by that I mean watching Harry Potter movies with my friend Kristin and eating gluten-free pasta and peanut M&Ms.

When I was first nominated for the Peace Corps and knew it was something that was actually going to happen, I decided to move to New York to be closer to my friends and family members in the area. When I made the move from DC to Brooklyn in August, leaving for the Peace Corps seemed far away and not entirely real.

Living in Brooklyn has been a lot of fun. I love New York City, and will miss it when I'm gone. I'm going to miss the food, the freedom to do what you want to do free of judgement, the subway (really!), running in Red Hook, the feeling of coming back to South Slope after a day selling food on the streets of Manhattan, and my wonderful friends. I am very excited to return to Africa, but I am sad to leave these things behind.

But now the final phase of my journey to Tanzania begins! I wish I could take this little guy along for the rest of the ride...
